1999 Drouhin Grand Cru Burgundy - A Real Value!
1999 Drouhin Grand Cru Burgundy Collection!
Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the oldest, most respected wine producers in the Burgundy region, established in Beaune by the enterprising Joseph Drouhin in 1880. Today, the domaine is run by Robert’s four children: Frederic, named president in 2003; Phillippe, who looks after the vineyards; Laurent, responsible for sales; and Veronique, who has taken the role of oenologist. Veronique is also the chief winemaker at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon, where the family has been producing wine since 1988.
“SKILLS GET MORE REFINED, METHODS EVOLVE, BUT WHAT’S IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS TRANSMITTED FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION"
ROBERT J. DROUHIN
Some of my favorite memories are being in the presence of Véronique Drouhin! Veronique, a Fourth Generation Drouhin, has experienced so much success, she has been referred to as a Wine Goddess. Véronique has become globally-recognized for her work in Burgundy and Oregon. She has made more than 30 vintages in each growing region, and is considered an icon in both. In 2019, she was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest award of merit. She reallyis a Wine Goddess!
I am excited to feature this elegant drinking burgundy just as the Celebration of Burgundy is coming to the US! This week in New York. La Paulée is a Burgundian celebration held at the end of the grape harvest. The modern day La Paulée was initiated by Jules Lafon, one of Burgundy's most respected wine growers, in 1923 when he decided to revive the traditional medieval grape harvest celebration to which Cistercian monks invited their vineyard laborers. La Paulée de New York is Daniel Johnnes' homage to La Paulée de Meursault and the traditions of Burgundy. It is his humble attempt to transport the Burgundy spirit of generosity and camaraderie to an enthusiastic and passionate Burgundy loving American clientele.
Stock up on these drinking burgundy wines to join in on the celebration of generosity and camaraderie!

1999 Maison Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
1999 Maison Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru "Very fresh and très pinot with more red than black fruits of excellent intensity. Though not especially dense it is incredibly long and while there is a clear sense of structure, it is almost completely buried beneath the sap. More elegant than powerful and quite impressive in its precision with outstanding complexity and in a relative rarity for young Bonnes Mares, this is also quite sexy." Allen Meadows Feb 2002
1999 Maison Joseph Drouhin Corton Grand Cru
"The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Corton has a wonderful nose packed with dense layers of assorted red fruits. Medium-bodied, rich, and sweet, it reveals candied cherries, raspberries, and blueberries in its medium-bodied, velvety-textured character. This is a lovely, powerful, concentrated wine with outstanding depth of fruit and a long, supple, jammy raspberry-packed finish." PR for RobertParker.com
