Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a wine enthusiast looking to explore the heights of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Alpha Omega Era Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to the art of winemaking and the excellence of Napa Valley's terroir.

A Mosaic of Terroir

Alpha Omega Winery is certified organic since 2017 and sources grapes from some of Napa Valley's most prized vineyards. These vineyards, spanning various AVAs, contribute to the complexity and depth of Alpha Omega wines.
The ERA Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine born from the diverse and illustrious terroirs of Napa Valley. Its source vineyards, each with a unique character, include Cordes Vineyard atop Atlas Peak, offering volcanic soils and herbal notes. Oakville's loamy soils contribute depth and elegance, notably from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. Rutherford's gravelly loam adds classic balance, courtesy of Thomas Vineyard, while Mount Veeder's rugged terrain infuses the wine with depth and intensity from Stricker Vineyard. This exceptional wine is a journey across Napa Valley's diverse landscapes, showcasing the region's terroir in a single bottle.

Philosophy In Every Bottle

Situated on the Rutherford Bench in the heart of Napa Valley, Alpha Omega embodies the quintessential Napa Valley vinous experience. Offering world-class wines in a warm and welcoming ambiance remains as crucial to vintners Robin and Michelle Baggett today as it was on the day they first opened the winery's doors on July 1, 2006.
The founders and vintners Robin and Michelle Baggett are dedicated to the art of handcrafted winemaking that marries Old World traditions with New World techniques. The winery's commitment to showcasing the unique terroir of Napa Valley is evident in every bottle they produce and to create the best wine possible they have invested well in a perfect team:
Winemaker Matt Brain, with his background in biosciences and process engineering, brings a naturalist's philosophy and technical expertise to winemaking. His goal is to express the unique characteristics of each vineyard block as naturally as possible.
Consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, renowned for his work with prestigious wineries such as the infamous Screaming Eagle, Harlan and many more, believes in highlighting the diversity of Napa Valley terroir. His approach has played a significant role in crafting Alpha Omega's sought-after wines.

A Vintage To Remember

The year 2018 was a stellar vintage in Napa Valley, marked by favorable weather conditions that allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This exceptional vintage set the stage for the creation of the 2018 Alpha Omega Era Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that beautifully encapsulates the potential of the year.

The Wine

In the world of wine, certain vintages and bottles stand out as truly exceptional. The 2018 Alpha Omega ERA Cabernet Sauvignon is one such masterpiece and it has garnered high praise from world renowned wine critics, earning JD99 and RP99 ratings. Exploring the intricate details, artistry, and craftsmanship will help us understand what makes this wine a standout in the world of Cabernet Sauvignon.
JD99 “The flagship is the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Era, which checks in as 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot and is a selection put together by winemaker Jean Hoefliger. Beautiful notes of pure crème de cassis and darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, smoke tobacco, and toasty oak give way to a full-bodied, flawlessly balanced Cabernet with lots of underlying structure, rock star concentration, and the tight, inward, yet impressive style that's common in 2018. Showing more and more minerality with time in the glass, it shuts down relatively quickly and is a wine for the long haul. Do your best to hide bottles for 4-5 years, if not longer, and it should evolve for 30+ years or more. (Drink between 2025-2058)” JD Jan. 2021
RP99 “Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, the opaque purple-black colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA explodes with bombastic scents of crème de cassis, blueberry compote, chocolate-covered cherries and mulberries plus touches of spice cake, smoked meats, cedar chest and tar with a compelling waft of licorice. Full-bodied, decadently fruited and heady on the palate, it delivers loads of delicate savory and earth nuances among the packed black fruit layers, supported by super firm, super ripe tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with a whole firework display of minerals and spices.” LPB Nov. 2020
The Alpha Omega ERA, the flagship wine, represents the pinnacle of their winemaking prowess. This blend results in a wine that showcases the very best qualities of each varietal, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors and aromas.
