Château Margaux is elegant, famous and Unimaginably Generous. I am so excited to share about Margaux today because, Everett and I had the privilege of visiting the Château this last summer. We were guests of a famous Chef here in San Diego, Solana Beach and we were treated like Kings and Queens. If it weren't enough to be let "IN" the famed iron gates, we were given a tour, a tasting with Managing Director, Philippe Bascaules and served a private lunch, served Butler-Style, which was new to me. I was kind of nervous I would drop food somewhere that it was not supposed to be. We tasted and drank, 1996, 2004 & 2006 Grand Vin, the 2010 Pavillon Rouge and the 2018 Pavillon Blanc! Philippe was so generous in sharing his knowledge, his time, perspective and his person.

I am so excited to have inventory of many vintages of the Château Margaux Grand Vin! For those of you who are seasoned collectors, there are a few cases of the famed 100 Pointer 2000 & 2005 Vintages, not to mention the newer Double 100 Pointers 2015 & 2019 Vintages!

"Absolutely compelling in two tastings of this vintage, the 2000 Margaux is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The extraordinary seductiveness, complex aromatics, and purity it exhibits lead me to believe it has reached its window of full maturity. Medium-bodied, with layers of concentration, stunning blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, a subtle dosage of new oak, and a distinctive personality that is elegant while at the same time powerful and substantial, this is a multi-dimensional wine that was extremely approachable and drinkable in both tastings I had of it. The color remains a healthy, even opaque bluish/purple, but there is no reason to hesitate to drink it. It should evolve for another 30-40 years, so there is no hurry either." June 2010

"The grand vin is the 2015 Château Margaux and it’s as good a wine as I’ve ever tasted. Coming from just over one-third of the total production and a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot, brought up in 100% new French oak, its deep ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by a thrilling bouquet of crème de cassis, toasted spice, hints of toasty oak, and cedar wood. Incredibly elegant and finesse-driven, yet packed with fruit, depth, richness, and structure, it has as much class as you can fit inside a glass. While the vintage provides plenty of upfront charm, this is a wine to cellar for at least a decade, and enjoy over the following 40+ years." November 2017
