Product Description

VM95 "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru has a slightly meaty/feral bouquet, just a hint of gaminess that might become more conspicuous with bottle age. Otherwise I find this well defined and with flattering red cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is a fine bead of acidity here, a pleasant fleshy mouthfeel towards the finish and a residual salinity that beckons you back for the next sip. This represents another impressive wine from Charles Van Canneyt. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting." NM for VM Oct 2019

Producer Note from BurgHound "Alain Hudelot's grandson Charles Van Canneyt described 2016 as "one with a very difficult growing season given the deep April frost and severe attack of mildew. As to the wines, they are wonderfully fresh and bright and I think that they will be so refreshing and seductive young that so many will be drunk in their youth that we may never find out if they'll be able to age!" I found the Hudelot 2016s to be generally excellent and in particular the Vosne 1ers showed a great deal of promise; for value, the domaine has once again made a fine Bourgogne.
