1983 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, DRC, La Tache Grand Cru, Bottle (750ml)

1983 Domaine Romanee Conti - This is still sound aromatically with an elegant black fruit nose that displays hints of dried rose petals and no obvious hail taint followed by medium weight, still solidly structured and rich flavors and a moderately astringent finish. This is pleasant enough with very good richness if not much nuance and while it is still vibrant and not at all declining like the 750 ml version, I would suggest drinking it over the next decade while there is still at least some buffering fruit. In sum, adequate but not what one expects from a truly great vintage of La Tache.
