Product Description

LP97 "The 2017 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi is a classic Barolo - a blend of the best plots of Verduno. It has a deep aromatic core of ripe raspberry and strawberry fruit, heady with a light smoke note that comes and goes. It is richer and less floral than the 2018. It has a gorgeous texture and weight, poised between rich, silky hedonistic pleasure and lithe brightness. It achieves just the right balance and is incredibly harmonious on the palate. Terroir is hugely important, but this wine is so deftly and gently done it does make me think that the hand of the winemaker is paramount." SH for TWI Jul 2022

DR96"Acclivi comes partly from Boscato and Rocche Olmo, which are cooler and later ripening areas in Verduno, so better suited to hot vintages such as 2017. Indeed, there is a remarkable energy of wild strawberry, liquorice and chocolate alongside bracing acidity and ripe, dusty tannins. The savoury character stretches the length, and it displays good concentration for the long haul." AF for DR Mar 2021

RP95 "The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2017 Barolo Acclivi (with 7,000 bottles produced) represents a blend of selected fruit from various sites around Verduno, including old vines in Monvigliero, Neirane, Bocato and Rocche dell’Olmo. The wine shows that electric and jazzed quality that we see from the other wines in this portfolio, only here you get additional concentration and structure at the back. That muscle power is actually quite contained, but given the context of these super fine and nuanced wines, Acclivi shows special determination. To the palate, this wine delivers a more lasting structural and textural impact." ML for TWA Jun 2021

JD95 "The Barolo Acclivi is only produced in the best vintages from a selection of the oldest vineyards located in Verduno of Monvigliero, Neirane, Rocche dell’Olmo, and Boscatto. The 2017 offers pure aromas of ripe cherry, dried earth, and rose petals. Within its refinement there is noble structure, with pomegranate pith, tea leaf, and dried herbs." AF for JD May 2021
