The Visionary Journey of Moueix

A Pinnacle Of Elegance In The Heart Of Pomerol

Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Château Hosanna stands as a jewel-like vineyard, epitomizing the excellence and tradition associated with the renowned Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix. This prestigious estate has a rich history that intertwines with the visionary journey of the Moueix family, shaping it into the gem it is today.

The Visionary Journey of Moueix

The story of Château Hosanna is inseparable from the visionary journey of Jean-Pierre Moueix, the founder of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix. Born in Correze in 1913, Jean-Pierre moved to Saint-Émilion with his parents in the wake of the Great Depression. Recognizing the untapped potential of Merlot grapes and the unique terroir of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, Jean-Pierre Moueix embarked on a journey that would redefine the wines of the region.

In 1950, Jean-Pierre began acquiring renowned vineyards, starting with Château La Fleur-Pétrus, followed by Château Magdelaine and Château Trotanoy. The pinnacle of his career came with the acquisition of Château Petrus, a move that solidified the legacy of the Moueix family in Bordeaux. Jean-Pierre Moueix, remembered for his cultural richness, generosity, and wisdom, passed away in 2003 at the age of 90.

Continuing The Legacy

Christian Moueix, Jean-Pierre's son, joined the family business in 1970. Passionate about viticulture, he assumed various roles within the company before becoming its President in 1991. Under Christian's leadership, the family business expanded its vineyard holdings, acquiring remarkable sites like Château Hosanna in 1999, Château Providence in 2005, and the historic Château Bélair in 2008.

Edouard Moueix, the third generation in the family business, joined in 2003. His focus on developing the distribution of Left Bank wines and key acquisitions, such as Château Bélair-Monange in 2008, has further solidified the family's presence in the wine world. The expansion of Château La Fleur-Pétrus in 2012 showcases Edouard's commitment to continuous improvement.
