"This is one of the new, hot, fashionable and much-watched small estates just off the Silverado Trail in Stag’s Leap. My first impressions were exceptional." — Robert Parker
Odette Estate Winery is one of Napa Valley's star newcomers, housed on the Silverado Trail in Stag's Leap District. The estate was founded in 2012 by the PlumpJack Group and crafts exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon from aged vines on the 45-acre vineyard. A leader in organic and sustainable practices in the region, Odette Estate has earned CCOF and LEED Gold certifications for its innovative site development and land stewardship.
Odette Estate: Stags Leap Boutique Winery
Odette Estate was purchased in 2012 after Gavin Newsom, Gordon Getty, and John Conover of the PlumpJack Group purchased the coveted 45-acre vineyard on the Silverado Trail. The site was formerly owned by the Steltzner family of Steltzner Winery, which operated from 1965-2011. It originally operated as a prune packing shed in 1915, though the Steltzner's craftily replanted the land with Bordeaux varieties.
Shortly after acquiring the site, Odette's owner renovated the vineyard and cellar. Certain plots were replanted while renowned architect Juan Carlos was appointed to oversee the new cellar. Carlos previously worked on cellars for Nine Suns Winery, Melka Winery, and other top Napa estates, imprinting a focus on sustainability into Odette Estate's cellar. The office spaces are built from recycled shipping containers, aluminum panels are used for natural climate control, and 2,500 square feet of solar panels generate renewable energy.
With its position in Stags Leap, a "valley within a valley," the winery is blessed with naturally cool temperatures and four different soil types that complement the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc vines.
-
Perkins Gravelly Loam is a fine, volcanic soil that provides excellent drainage.
-
Bale Clay Loam is sediment from the nearby Napa River and ancient Vaca Mountains that produces fruit with strong minerality.
-
Clear Lake Loam is fine sandstone and shale, providing depth and nuance to the fruit.
-
Boomer Gravelly Loam dates back to prehistoric landslide and gives exceptional structure to the fruit grown on steep slopes.
Odette Estate Cabernet Sauvignon: Critical Acclaim & Notable Vintages
Odette Estate Winery produces four different wines, though its most coveted bottle is the Odette Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Each vintage contains at least 80% of the varietal and is blended with additional Bordeaux varietals to create a rich and layered wine featuring beautiful red berry aromatics and a subtle vanilla and oak finish. The inaugural 2012 vintage burst out the gates, receiving a 100-point score from Robert Parker, who exclaimed, "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is off-the-charts, mind-blowing."
Furthermore, the 2016 and 2018 vintages attained critical and commercial success, with only 300-500 cases were released for each.
Odette Wine: Exceptional Napa Cab For Your Cellar
