Chateau Brane Cantenac & Chateau Cantenac Brown

Chateau Brane-Cantenac

Founded in the early 17th century in Margaux, Chateau Brane-Cantenac has slowly become one of Bordeaux's rising stars over the past two decades. Its history has seen numerous owners, including the Baron of Brane, who sold Chateau Mouton-Rothschild in 1833 to purchase Brane-Cantenac. With nearly 75 hectares of land, the final blends are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominant, though they now include small amounts of Petit Verdot and Carmenere.

Chateau Cantenac-Brown

Chateau Cantenac-Brown was classified as a Third Growth estate in 1855, one of only three classed estates from Cantenac (joining Brane-Cantenac and Boyd-Cantenac). The estate is one of the few founded by a non-Frenchman, as the wealthy Scottish wine trader, John Lewis Brown, opened the estate at the end of the 18th century and named the property after himself. Now owned by Tristan Le Lous, Cantenac-Brown has taken multiple steps in the recent past to improve its winemaking, including building a new, natural cellar in 2020.
