"Philip Togni has made many great wines that have clearly stood the test of time"
- Robert M. Parker, Jr. on Philip Togni 2014

Philip Togni -  "the world’s most interesting wines"

Robert Parker says, "I want to acknowledge a wine Philip Togni produced early in his career at Chappellet, the 1969 Cabernet Sauvignon. It may be one of the greatest California Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted." I think that is saying a lot for someone who has tasted as many California Cab's as Mr. Parker!

Parker has further added, "The oldest vintages I have in my cellar go back to the mid-eighties, and I always recommend that purchasers of Togni’s wines forget them for at least ten years." These vintage offerings are in their optimal drinking window and will continue to age gracefully in your cellar. To be honest, I don't know if I can resist drinking a wine like these immediately. They are likely expressing those tertiary notes that are only present in the vintages of 90's to early 2000's!

Critical Acclaim:

"The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. For those who don’t know, Togni has always made an uncompromising Cabernet meant for 20, 30, maybe even 40 or more years of cellaring. Gorgeously rich notes of black olives, black currants, graphite and wood smoke jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored, Medoc-styled 2003. At age ten, it displays a youthfulness similar to a 4- to 5-year-old wine. The finish is long, convincing and rich. It is reminiscent of a Spring Mountain version of a hybrid blend of St.-Julien and Pauillac. Unique to Napa and as distinctive as Philip Togni himself, it will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and should last longer than your author. By the way, my cellar includes many vintages of Togni, and I rarely touch them before they hit 15 years of age." RP Jun 2013

"The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, comes from steep mountain vineyards at the top of the Napa side of Spring Mountain. Aromas of black olives, tapenade, creme de cassis, licorice and truffles emerge from this opaque ruby/purple-colored, youthful 2004. Togni’s spiritual reference point is Bordeaux more than Napa Valley, and his wines seem to represent a hypothetical melange of those two distinctive schools of wine. Still backward, but rich, full-bodied and promising, this brilliant 2004 is 5-7 years away from its adolescence; it should age for 30-40 years." RP Apr 2014
