Product Description

DR95 "Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits supply the grape for this co-fermented Echézeaux blend from a total of 0.75ha. Fermented with 20% whole bunches and aged in 60% new wood, it has delightful old-vine concentration, layers of tobacco spice, forest floor and red berry fruit, sculpted tannins and a fresh, refined finish." TA for DR Oct 2019

VM94+ "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a tightly wound, intense bouquet of black fruit, briar, crushed limestone and a brushing of chalk dust. The palate is medium-bodied with hints of licorice and menthol on the entry. Quite an exotic Echézeaux, more so than the 2019, it has great breadth and grip toward the finish. This will require several years in bottle." NM for VM Jan 2020

William Kelley for RobertParker.com writes, "The Mugneret sisters' 30th vintage at the helm of this great Vosne-Romanée domaine is a crowning success, and once again Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée have produced some of the finest wines to be found all along the Côte de Nuits. Harvest began at this address on September 5, and Marie-Andrée told me that the vinifications were stressful, requiring careful surveillance, the Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes not finishing fermenting its sugar until December 2018. But diligence was rewarded, and the wines were showing beautifully during my early-December visit to the Domaine. Ranging between 13.8% and 14.2% alcohol, they are ripe and textural but beautifully fresh and defined, built around ripe, powdery tannins and succulent acids that will guarantee these red Burgundies very long lives. The one novelty to remark upon is that in 2018 the sisters elected to bottle a separate cuvée of Vosne-Romanée from lieu-dit La Colombière, something the family last did in the 1957 vintage before the parcel was replanted around 1960. This is a terrific cuvée in the making and clearly destined to rank among the Côte de Nuits' élite communal bottlings in the years to come, so readers won't want to miss the debut release."
