Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino

Proprietor Piero Palmucci established Poggio di Sotto in 1989, working with the University of Milan to select the finest Sangiovese vines for his vineyard. Ultimately, 182 clones were chosen, resulting in three Brunellos: Poggio di Sotto Rosso, Poggio Sotto Brunello, and Poggio di Sotto Riserva. Decanter Magazine has labelled these wines "Quintessential Brunello" for their remarkable freshness and finesse, a stark contrast to traditional Brunello.

The Poggio di Sotto Riserva in particular has gained international acclaim, as the wine spends 5 years aging in Slavonian casks following a strict selection process. Bottles are produced only in exceptional vintages, with the 2016 release earning the estate its first 100-point score from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.

Since 2011, Poggio di Sotto has been led by Claudio Tipa as part of his ColleMassari group, joining other acclaimed Tuscan estates. Despire the new ownership, Poggio di Sotto has retained its singularity and meticulous vineyard work.
