Château Margaux is elegant, famous and unimaginably generous. I am so excited to share about Margaux today because, Everett and I had the privilege of visiting the Château this last summer. We were guests of a famous Chef here in San Diego, Solana Beach and we were treated like Kings and Queens!
If it weren't enough to be let "IN" the famed iron gates, we were given a tour, a tasting with Managing Director, Philippe Bascaules and served a private lunch, served Butler-Style, which was new to me. I was kind of nervous I would drop food somewhere that it was not supposed to be. We tasted and drank, 1996, 2004 & 2006 Grand Vin, the 2010 Pavillon Rouge and the 2018 Pavillon Blanc! Philippe was so generous in sharing his knowledge, his time, perspective and his person!

Managing Director Chateau Margaux - Philippe Bascaules
"Philippe Bascaules first joined Château Margaux in 1990 as Estate Director, a position he held until 2011, working under the tutelage of Paul Pontallier. Bascaules was appointed Managing Director of Château Margaux in 2017. He says of his position, "I am very honoured Corinne Mentzelopoulos has appointed me Managing Director of Château Margaux and I like to think that Paul Pontallier would have been happy for me to carry on his work. I am thrilled to be reunited with my former colleagues at Château Margaux and delighted to be working on the wines and vineyards of the estate."
