There is a pure voluptuousness in the 2009 that is striking. The immense purity of the fruit gives the 2009 tons of elegance and character. At the same time, big, rich, silky tannins form a backbone that allows the wine to show its expressiveness and pedigree. The 2009 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. In 2009, the blend is 80% Syrah, 14% Grenache and 6% Roussanne, all destemmed. The wine spent 30 months in French oak. (AG)" (August 2012)
