Product Description

JS100 "This is an incredible wine with such depth and energy and ethereal, mind-blowing sensibility. It sent shivers down my spine tasting it. It just shines on the nose, like bright sunlight breaking through a dark sky. Aromas of raspberries, citrus, violets and dark earth. Full-bodied with extremely fine tannins that go vertical and endless, from top to bottom. A monument for merlot-based wines. Drinkable now, but needs six to eight years to come around." JS Mar 2022

RP98 "Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 The Flight drifts sensuously out of the glass with the most gorgeous perfume of red roses, kirsch, black raspberries and fresh blackcurrants followed by hints of iron ore, tilled soil, lavender and star anise plus a touch of powdered cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a fantastically chiseled structure of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the black fruit and floral layers, finishing with bags of minerals." LPB for TWA Nov 2020

LP98 "The 2018 The Flight is a blend of 65% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it storms out of the glass with powerful notes of plum preserves, blackcurrant jelly, and Morello cherries leading to suggestions of candied violets, dark chocolate, licorice, and damp soil. The full-bodied palate is rich and opulent, with a firm, finely-grained texture and bright acidity perfectly framing the decadent fruit, finishing very long and fragrant. This is gorgeous!" "Whereas Screaming Eagle is mainly sourced from Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the western side of the estate, there is one plot of old Merlot (1980s plantings) on the eastern side of the vineyard that continually makes the backbone of this Second Flight/The Flight.” RobertParker.com Published: Nov 05, 2020
