Product Description

JD98 " Also showing at the top end of the barrel rating, the spectacular 2009 Saxum Syrah Booker Vineyard (70% Syrah and 30% Mourvedre aged for 24-26 months in barrel) is the most elegant, seamless Booker Vineyard I’ve tasted from this estate (and seems much more finesse driven now than when compared to my thoughts from barrel). Beautifully fresh and perfumed on the nose, with raspberry, crème de cassis, roasted meat, and spring flower like qualities, this full-bodied, voluptuously styled beauty has copious amount of sweet fruit, a silky, sexy texture, and a lengthy finish where more structure and tannin emerges. Despite all of the fruit here, this still needs short term cellaring. Give bottles 2-3 years, and then plan on drinking over the following 12-15+ years." JD Jun 2012
"This is a thrilling set of wines from Heather and Justin Smith. Everything starts and ends in the vineyards for Justin Smith. His family owns the James Berry Vineyard, one of the rare sites in Paso Robles on limestone. Smith has also planted several other top vineyards in Paso while mentoring a number of his colleagues."
