2018 Domaine Georges Roumier, Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru, La Bussiere, Bottle (750ml)
Product Description
DR93 "Clos de Bussière lies just down the hill from the Clos de Tart, close to the border with Chambolle-Musigny. Fermented with 50% whole bunches, which is high for Christophe Roumier, this plush, textured, sensuous Pinot Noir may not make old bones, but it has wonderful sweetness, velvety tannins and a spicy, refreshing finish." TA for DR Oct 2019
Allen Meadows for BurgHound writes, "Here too the expressive nose is quite ripe with its more complex combination of cassis, black raspberry and prominent nuances of newly turned earth. The racy, intense and nicely voluminous medium-bodied flavors aren't as fine but there's notably better depth on the firm, moderately robust and ever-so-slightly warm finale. Excellent development potential here." Jan 2021
William Kelley for RobertParker.com writes, "Christophe Roumier was quite sanguine about his 2018s, declaring without hesitation his preference for the sappy, more transparent 2017s—wines I'll be revisiting from bottle in due course—but he has nonetheless once again produced some of the finest wines of the vintage in the Côte de Nuits. Muscular, textural and gourmand, these are generous, enveloping red Burgundies that nonetheless remain lively and dynamic. Roumier harvested beginning in the first week of September, opting to retain around one-third whole clusters—and somewhat more for some of the higher appellations. Finished alcohols range between 13.1% and 14.2%, and when I visited in early December, Christophe was planning to bottle in early spring, feeling the wines didn't need too much longer in barrel. I'm hoping to devote more time to an in-depth piece on this historic domaine and its history in 2020, but more of that soon. For now, it goes without saying that Roumier's 2018s come warmly recommended." Published: Jan 09, 2020
