Product Description
(two of the five barrels were new until the racking): Medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, flowers and minerals, plus a hint of chocolatey oak. Velvety and sweet but reticent today, with alluring flavors of redcurrant and darker berries given cut and definition by crushed-stone minerality. Wonderfully rich and sweet for the vintage, and more perfumed in the early going than the deeper Musigny. The very long, sappy finishing flavors spread out horizontally to saturate the palate, with the substantial granular tannins giving the wine a strong structural underpinning for a long life in bottle.
Domaine Georges Roumier, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Les Amoureuses
"Whenever I meet Christophe Roumier, I get the impression of a Burgundy superstar in the eye of a storm. Around him, the world over, Roumier is the Holy Grail for collectors bidding astronomical sums for bottles that bear his family name. And Christophe himself? Well, he just the usual down to earth, self-effacing gentleman that he always is and always will be. He’s just concerned with his vines and his winery. All the hullabaloo out there beyond Chambolle? Well, sometimes I think he would prefer if it could all be left to the likes of DRC and Leroy. Christophe never asked to be an icon." NM Dec 2015
