2002 Domaine Rouget Vosne Romanee Beaux Monts 2002 - Allen Meadow's Burghound - Tasted: Jan 01, 2005: As Rouget candidly admitted, some wines are very lightly pigmented and this is one of them as it's presently more like a dark ros? than pinot ruby. A touch of wood spice frames gorgeously elegant and perfumed aromas of rose petals, violets and heady black fruits followed by supple, complex, impeccably balanced and lively flavors that pack plenty of punch and superb precision. The intensity is impressive and this is yet one more example to suggest that when it comes to pinot-based wines, color is simply not a reliable indicator of quality. While this will age extremely well on its impeccable balance, it is remarkably approachable now.
