Product Description
(Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet "Clos du Cailleret" 1er Cru White) Here too there is a whiff of matchstick character to the pure, restrained and cool aromas of citrus, white flower, apple and soft pear scents. There is a terrific sense of underlying tension to the elegant and equally pure middle weight flavors that brim with minerality on the bone dry, intense and linear finish. This is presently exceptionally tightly wound and it's clear that this is built for the long-term as it's going to require every bit of a decade of cellaring for it to reach its full peak and 12 to 15 years would not surprise me. In a word, excellent.
"Pierre Ramonet arrived in Burgundy in the late 1920s. The crown jewel of his acquisitions would occur in 1978 when he purchased a plot of Montrachet. His grandchildren, who are the current owners, Noël and Jean-Claude have tended the vineyards since 1984. They produce 24 appellation wines from 16.2 ha, located primarily in Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. With the 2014 vintages, the name changed from Domaine Ramonet to Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet as Noël chose to lease his vineyards to his brother." AM for BH Jun 2022
