JA98 "Amazingly dense and young in colour, this just stretches out in front of you. Dense, dark brambled blackberry and raspberry fruits, concentrated yet with lightness of touch, powerful but finely boned tannins, with waves of tobacco, sage and spice. Comes at you with grip and personality, one to get hold of and sink into. One of only seven Grange vintages with 100% Shiraz" JA Jul. 2023.
"The 1999 Penfolds Grange is 100% Shiraz and it has a deep garnet-brick color. It jumps from the glass with gregarious notions of Indian spices, cigar box, and iron ore, leading to a core of plum preserves, raisin cake, and clove oil, with a touch of dried herbs. The medium to full-bodied palate explodes with exotic spices and mineral-laced, dried berry flavors, framed by a racy backbone and a chewy texture, finishing long." LPB for TWI Aug 2023
