RP100 "Another exceptional wine from this vineyard on Howell Mountain, Outpost's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard features floral notes, crushed stone, cassis, blueberries and a hint of mocha as well. It's also full-bodied, rich and concentrated yet amazingly plush, silky and long on the finish. In a few words, it's complex yet harmonious, powerful yet elegant, and those seemingly oxymoronic juxtapositions often define great wine to this taster." JC for WA Jan 2024

JD100 "Another perfect wine from this team is the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a site on Howell Mountain. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as incredible purity in its cassis, violets, graphite, and minty herb-like aromatics, this massive, full-bodied wine hits that palate with a dense, opulent mouthfeel, tons of velvety tannins, and flawless overall balance. I wrote in my notes that this would age forever, and I certainly suspect this wine will outlive me. Given its sheer wealth of fruit as well as its balance and purity, it offers ample pleasure today, but I'd nevertheless hide bottles for 4-6 years if possible. It should have 50 years of longevity." "True Vineyard, Dotzler's original property, is bottled separately, both as a straight Cabernet Sauvignon and as a co-fermented blend that includes Cabernet Franc and Merlot. According to TRB, the core of the Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard is always the first three blocks, each planted to different clonal selections. One is sourced from Ren Harris at Paradigm, the See clone. Another is sourced from Jean Phillips at Screaming Eagle, referred to by TRB as the P clone (thought to be clone 7 or Bosché). And a third, is sourced from Paul Frank at Gemstone, the Jenkins clone (said to be a suitcase clone from Château Lafite-Rothschild). TRB maintains that this clonal diversity is the basis for the True Vineyard's complexity." CZ for WA Jan 2024
