2000 Kistler Russian River Pinot - Wine Advocate # 142 - Aug 2002: The deep saturated ruby/purple-colored 2000 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard offers a beautiful perfume of violets, minerals, sweet black cherry and raspberry fruit, toasty wood, and earth. It is a Comte de Vogue Musigny-like effort without the copious tannin. This long, rich, nicely-textured, and pure offering will be its finest between 2005-2016. Steve Kistler and his sidekick, Mark Bixler, feel that the key to making top quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 2000 (an extremely cold year with higher acids) was patience. Some years the flavors come early, and in other years they are much later.
