"Uncharacteristically austere and backward for the vintage even though young Clos de Vougeot is often like this, few 2000s are anything other than forward and expressive. The flavor profile is intense, earthy and full-bodied with an underlying touch of rusticity and even a certain finishing mineral firmness. Impressive and though it's presently backward, I suspect this will be a wine for the medium, rather than long term." AM Jun 2003
