Product Description
A Rare and Historic Gem of Harlan Only Available Here
The rare, non-production 1990-1995 Harlan Vertical Flight was only assembled once by the estate. Donated and auctioned off at a charity event, this legendary original case sold for quite a pretty penny more than what it is listed for today. A collectors dream, few of these cases exist and none other are for sale in the world.
The first flight of Harlan, this case takes us on a trip down memory lane through the estate's earliest and most formative years. Starting off with the inaugural, 95-point 1990 vintage, Harlan has always created knockout wines. Going on to score 98-points in 1991, 96-points in 1992, 97-points in 1993, 100-points in 1994, and 99-points in 1995, the lineup of Harlan's first flight is truly remarkable. With under 1,000 cases made annually, these wines are a rarity standing alone, let alone combined into a nonproduction flight.
One of the rarest and most investment-grade original cases in the world, this vertical is sure to be a focal point of even the most awe-inspiring cellars. Pay tribute to one of the most profound producers of our generation with the Harlan 1990-1995 vertical.
1994 Harlan Estate - RP100 "What can I say about the 1994? I have tasted the wine for three consecutive years, and each time it satisfied all of my requirements for perfection. The opaque purple color is followed by spectacular aromatics that soar from the glass, offering up celestial levels of black currants, minerals, smoked herbs, cedar wood, coffee, and pain grille. In the mouth, this seamless legend reveals full body, and exquisite layers of phenomenally pure and rich fruit, followed by a 40+ second finish. While accessible, the 1994 begs for another 5-7 years of cellaring. It should easily last for 30+ years. Every possible jagged edge - acidity, alcohol, tannin, and wood - is brilliantly intertwined in what seems like a diaphanous format. What is so extraordinary about this large-scaled wine, with its dazzling display of aromatics and prodigious flavors and depth, is that it offers no hint of heaviness or coarseness. Harlan's 1994 comes close to immortality in the glass." RP Dec 1997
