Product Description
RP99 "The 2009 Maya Proprietary Red Wine displays a deep garnet-purple color, exploding with notes of rose hip tea, dried lavender and candied violets over a core of raspberry preserves, blackberry pie and redcurrant jelly plus suggestions of spice cake, tobacco and forest floor. Full-bodied, concentrated and boldly fruited, the palate is beautifully lifted with racy freshness and supported with a very fine-grained frame, finishing long and incredibly poised." LPB for TWA Jan 2020
"Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2009 Maya needs a little coaxing to bring out scents of blackberry pie and blackcurrant pastilles leading to touches of pencil shavings, lavender, and underbrush. The full-bodied palate delivers impactful black and red berry flavors laced with baking spice notes and supported by velvety tannins, finishing with wonderful tension and length." LPB for TWI Feb 2024
"Following a significant replanting, Dalle Valle appears to have come back with an impressive group of wines. The proprietary red wine named after proprietress Naoko Dalla Valle’s daughter, Maya, used to be blended with 50-55% Cabernet Franc, but it is only about one-third of the blend over recent vintages. One of the original cult wines of California, this brilliant wine has had enormous success since the mid- and late 1980s. The 2012s are typical for the vintage with lots of fruit, body and precocious, seductive personalities." Robert Parker Published: Oct 30, 2013
