Product Description

BH94 "A genuinely brilliant nose that is at once extravagant and highly expressive reflects intensely earthy and spicy aromas that remain completely primary before giving way to opulently rich, round and notably sweet medium full-bodied flavors that deliver flat out incredible length on the mocha, velvet and mouth coating finish. Despite the higher than normal yields, this is really quite concentrated, seamless and exquisitely harmonious. In sum, this is a Clos des Epeneaux that should age for years to come, particularly in magnum format. Bravo!" AM Dec 2008
Comte Armand Clos des Epeneaux Monopole, Pommard Premier Cru
"In a word, Excellent" May 2021 Producer note: The young but enormously talented Benjamin Leroux took over from Pascal Marchand (now at Domaine Vougeraie) in July of 1999. He reports that he has changed very little since Pascal left. The buzz in various Burgundian cellars is that young Benjamin is already the real deal in terms of his knack for getting the very best from his raw materials. I first met him in July of 99 and he strikes me as someone who is quite thoughtful and despite his youth, he exudes a quiet confidence as he explains the various nuances of his approach to what the vintage had to offer. While almost everyone made something interesting in 99 (if they didn't, they should consider another line of work), few can make villages level Auxey-Duresses with the refinement and intensity of the Armand 99."
