Product Description

RP97 "The red 2018 El Tamboril Tinto is one of the latest new wines, first produced in 2016 and not bottled in 2017. It's made with grapes from a breathtaking place where they have been producing their top white of the same name for a few more years. This is the highest of the vineyards they work, a 0.5-hectare plot at 1,200 meters in altitude in the place that names the wine, from the village of Navatalgordo in the province of Ávila. It's from a north-facing slope with very shallow soils of pink and white granite and sand with lots of quartz (often associated with energy) that was planted some 70 years ago. The grapes were picked very late, in mid October, and once they got rid of every single grape that was not perfect, the full clusters fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts. This wine went straight to the premier league with the 2016 vintage, and this 2018 follows the path of the initial vintage. The wine matured in a well-seasoned French oak barrel for 16 months. It has more fruit than Rey Moro and is gentler and rounder than the 2016. It has the chalky granite texture in a softer way. Only 623 bottles were filled in May 2020." LG for TWA Nov 2020

"Comando G is in the second year to obtain the organic certification of all their vineyards, which have been worked organically and biodynamically from the beginning although they never sought certification until now. These are among the most inspiring wines produced in Spain today." Published: Nov 19, 2020
