Product Description
BH94 "A much more deeply pitched, cooler and more serious nose featuring aromas of dark berry fruit, floral notes and nuances of truffle, stone and game give way to intense, minerally and relatively cool full-bodied but precise flavors that offer a sophisticated and elegant mouth feel and superb finishing punch. There is real depth to the underlying material and while the tannic spine is not invisible, I suspect it will be more in evidence with age as the youthful pinot baby fat completely drenches the palate at present. In sum, this is an understated but great Ruchottes. (Drink starting 2017)" AM Mar 2008
Domaine Georges & Christophe Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits
"One senses that Christophe Roumier considers 2005 a high point of his career, and my visit with him was among the high points of my recent trip. He describes this as “a classic vintage lending itself to very calm, classic vinification,” which given the opportunities afforded by perfectly healthy, firm, dry, ripe fruit involved triage almost solely to remove ladybugs, and included around 25% whole clusters in the fermenters at the Premier Cru level and 50% at that of Grand Cru."
