Chimere Chateauneuf du Pape [Sine Qua Non & Clos St Jean] 2019 1.5L OWC

"The Mourvedre comes from La Crau, and because of that component, the wine is somewhat reminiscent of the extraordinary cuvee made at Boislauzon called Tintot. The biggest surprise – who makes this wine? It is a partnership between Clos Saint-Jean’s Maurel brothers, Vincent and Pascal, the famed oenologist Philippe Cambie, and none other than California’s reclusive genius from Ojai, Manfred Krankl. It is a distinctive, singular wine such as we have come to expect from Manfred Krankl’s Sine Qua Non and Next of Kyn operations in southern California as well as from the Maurels and Philippe Cambie. Kudos to this brilliant new partnership! (RP)" (October 2011)
