Product Description
RP99 "Made up of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill is deep garnet-purple in color with an incredibly youthful, primary fruited nose of crushed blackcurrants, blackberries and plums with touches of chocolate box, espresso, cinnamon stick, cloves and menthol. It's a big, blockbuster, rich style with the full-bodied palate sporting tons of black and blue fruits, structured with a solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long." LPB for WA May 2018
Chappellet is the pioneer that, in the last 1960s, first began planting vineyards on what is now one of the hottest viticultural regions of Napa Valley – Pritchard Hill. Even though Pritchard Hill isn’t entitled to an AVA, there is no question that the 15 or 16 wineries are up there are producing world-class wines, and it all started with the efforts of Molly and Don Chappellet in the late 1960s. The 1969 Cabernet Sauvignon they made with the help of Philip Togni remains one of the greatest Napa Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted, and is still vigorous at age 47!
