Product Description

RP99 ~ Interim End of May 2018, The Wine Advocate - "A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill gives gregarious cr?me de cassis, baked blackberries, black cherry compote and mocha notes with touches of camphor, star anise, violets and oolong tea. Full-bodied and packing a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins, with great freshness supporting the powerful, muscular fruit, it finishes very, very long. This should live forever." LPB May 2018
Chappellet, Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

JD98 A beast of a wine on release, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill has shed plenty of its copious baby fat and is now showing more elegance and nuance. Cassis, graphite, sagebrush, iron, and tobacco all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a silky, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's certainly in the early stages of its drink window, yet I suspect it will evolve gracefully for another two decades.

DR98 It is an imminently powerful wine with a towering structure, with incredible volume in the aromas, flavours and texture, but in great harmony and balance. Alluring black fruit mingles with loamy earth, brown spices, and dried herbs. A tempting full-bodied richness envelopes the palate in warm blackberry fruits, with a kind of zoomed-in quality showing a wealth of robust, velvet-textured tannins with an expansive earthy iron-laced minerality, matched only by the intensity of the tannins. A few more years of patience will pay handsome rewards. The Pritchard Hill wines are the best lots from the estate. Director of winemaking Phillip Corralo-Titus and his team begin tasting lots in March after each harvest, zeroing in on lots with perfect levels of colour, tannin, and complex anthocyanins. One point of evolution in the flagship Pritchard Hill Cabernet wines is that since 2018, Malbec or Cabernet Franc have yet to make the final cut. (Drink between 2024-2040)
