Product Description

RP96+ "Much more structured, muscular, tannic and intense is the 2013 Quella, which exhibits blackberry notes, licorice, some truffle, graphite and damp earth, huge fruit, a muscular, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long, moderately tannic finish. Forget it for a few years and drink it over the following 25-30+ years." RP Oct 2016

DR95 "Black cherry, raspberry, herbs and coniferous forest floor marry in the Quella's bouquet, followed by a wine of real energy on the palate, with a vibrant core of acidity and elgeant filigree tannins. The Quella derives from a site not far from Melbury, but poor, well-drained volcanic soils yield a very different wine." WK for DR May 2016

WS94 "Not shy with the dark and winey persona, but this reveals a lovely beam of plum and açaí berry fruit -- albeit encased in dark toast and carried by warm loam and cast iron notes. Emits succulence throughout, though you have to dig a little for it as this moves through a slightly old-school, pleasantly austere finish. Granted, this is likely too heavy-handed for some folks, but all the pieces are there. Just needs some more time to settle in." JM for WS Sept 2023

AG98 "The 2013 Quella is fabulous. Bright, racy and vibrant, the 2013 is just magnificent. There's plenty of tannin and structure, but it's all woven so well into the wine's frame. Crushed rose petals, spice, mint, new leather and cedar build inot the dense, resonant finish. The 2013 has blossomed into a truly exceptional wine. Superb." AG for VM May 2024

JS97 "Lots of black pepper and dark fruits with plums on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, tannic and powerful. So muscular. Flexing. Form and chewiness throughout. This will need five years of bottle age on release before trying." JS Jan 2016
