Product Description
RP98+ "The 2005 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin represents the essence of Beaucastel. A super-concentrated, somewhat over the top style of wine based on 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, and the rest Counoise and Syrah, they only made 4,000 bottles in 2005. The wine has an inky blue/purple color, a more dramatic bouquet than the regular cuvee, consisting of asphalt, crushed pepper, fresh red beef, tar, truffle, and loads of blueberry, blackberry, and cassis. The wine is very full-bodied, extraordinarily powerful, frightfully concentrated, and very tannic and backward. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2050+." RP Oct 2007
,br> VM98 "The 2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin is spectacular. A minty streak rises effortlessly from the glass, mingling with cured meat and tobacco to form a haunting aromatic profile that sends shivers down the spine. Full-bodied yet almost weightless, the 2005 carries itself with stunning equilibrium, flowing seamlessly into a finish of outstanding length and refinement. What more could one want? Both powerful and ethereal, this is a benchmark Hommage at its most profound. (Drink between 2025-2045)" NG for VM Dec 2025
DR98 "A remarkably sweet impression on the nose, sweet red fruits, violets, cocoa, sugared almonds and tobacco. It's open, complex and ready to go. Rounded and generous, mouthfilling fruit, the acidity is remarkably high considering the heat of the vintage, and doesn't feel entirely harmonious. Long finish, the sweetness of the fruit matched by quite strident, brisk acidity. Very fine, ripe, smooth tannins - they're almost imperceptible, but give grip on the finish. Very good indeed with great elegance, even if the alcohol is a little raised. (Drink between 2020-2037)" MW for DR Dec 2019
JD97+ " A classic blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and the balance 10% each of Counoise Syrah, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin has always reminded me of the 2010, yet with a touch more austerity and firmness in its tannins. Still deep plum colored with a beautiful bouquet of smoked meats, beef blood, ground pepper, and assorted darker, gamey fruits, this powerhouse is full-bodied, has building tannins, a massive core of fruit, and a structured, lengthy finish. It’s just now starting to come around but will be incredibly long-lived. (Drink between 2019-2050)" JD Jun 2019
