Product Description
1990 Armand Rousseau Chambertin - Burghound - Tasted March 1, 2008: Tasting note: (with thanks to Eddie Milstein). As would be expected, this is notably fresher than its 750 ml counterpart (see herein) with a perfumed yet now fully mature and obviously ripe nose offering a simply gorgeous array of Gevrey earth and a stunningly complex melange of spice, leather, crushed herb and dark fruits that introduce very rich, forward, medium weight flavors of exceptional length. The sappy and mouth coating finish is still moderately tannic but the fruit provides more than adequate balance and there is better than average acidity as well. A lovely wine in its own right that is beginning to drink well though it can certainly be held with confidence, indeed for my taste the '90 Cham is still on the way up though its apogee is now in sight. In sum, this is an excellent if not truly great Rousseau Cham by the redoubtable standards of this wine.
