Product Description

JA96 "Just gorgeous, this is softening and settling in, unpeeling to showcase tobacco and black truffle with the smoked gourmet opulence of Angélus. The blackberry and raspberry fruits expand to fill the mid palate, and are filled with bitter orange peel and warming spices. Tannins still exterting plenty of control, giving boost and momentum, just showing the very first hints of tipping towards tertiary, although with decades ahead of it. Delicous, welcoming, drawn out. Harvest October 2nd to 22nd" JA for IB Feb 2024

VM96 "The 2014 Angélus is now really beginning to blossom. It has an outstanding bouquet with plush but delineated black cherry and cassis fruit, crushed violet and just a hint of pencil lead. There is wonderful focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with tightly knit black fruit, graphite and spice. There is weight and presence, but it is effortlessly counterbalanced by the freshness and acidity, whilst the finish if extraordinarily long. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting." NM for VM Mar 2018

JS96 "Wow. This is really decadent and fascinating with forest flowers, chocolate, tea and currants on the nose, which follows through to a firm and silky palate with lots of fruit and balance. Very long and beautiful. Citrusy undertones. Needs five or six years of bottle age to show it all." JS Jan 2017

LP95 "Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2014 Angelus bursts on the scene with bold suggestions of baked plums and blackberry preserves followed by hints of sandalwood, cigar box, and cardamom. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and plush, with great tension to lend lift though the long earthy finish." LPB for TWI Mar 2024
