DR97 "The Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from blocks spanning this iconic Oakville site's eastern to western boundaries. The wine was aged for 21 months in 79% new French oak. The 2022 vintage offers a balanced, expressive, and generous take on To Kalon, showcasing elegance without the bombast often associated with wines from this renowned vineyard. Winemaker Christopher Tynan believes this wine has the structure and finesse to rival top Bordeaux offerings, a testament to meticulous attention to detail during vineyard management and winemaking. The result is a wine with softer edges framed by vibrant acidity and firm, structured tannins that gracefully melt on the long, mineral-rich finish. The nose reveals layers of loamy earth, cassis, violets, and red leaf tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it presents blue fruit compote, black cherry, and blackberry, all enlivened by a welcome note of blood orange acidity that adds freshness and focus.
