Product Description
JS99 This shows superb structure with a tight and intense center palate of fruit and phenolics. It's full-bodied but extremely reserved and muscular with very fine texture. The palate shows apples, pears, lemons and some crushed stones. Lilacs as well. Really minerally. A great Haut Brion blanc.
JD98 The 2022 Château Haut-Brion Blanc is one of the richer, more powerful wines from this château in some time. Sensational notes of ripe pineapple, honeyed white flowers, crushed stone, and even a hint of tangerine all shine here, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered, opulent style. Based on 51.4% Sémillon and 48.6% Sauvignon Blanc, the Grand Vin hit 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.38. It’s a brilliant wine to enjoy over the coming two decades.
WI98 The blend has a slightly Merlot dominance, at just over 53%, the remainder more Cabernet Sauvignon than Cabernet Franc, although the latter still accounts for 11%. The élevage was in 63% new oak. Dark, toasted rather introverted on the nose compared to La Mission which was of course tasted alongside, with savoury dark fruits and a little crushed oyster shell. This continues on the palate which is rather brooding, with a fibrous core of sinew, wrapped in tendons of dark fruit, while all around buzz the toasted, savoury, smoky elements, draped over an intensely charged structure of vibrant, firm, tightly knit and lightly drying tannins. This is a substantial Haut-Brion with great potential, as indicated by the incredibly long, charged, electric finish. The alcohol on the label is 14.5%.
