Product Description
JD100 "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Colesworthy is a wine that absolutely blew me away, and it's unquestionably one of the legendary wines in the vintage. A barrel selection released only in magnum, this deep purple-hued beauty offers an incredible array of black and blue fruits, smoked tobacco, graphite, and chalky minerality that changes every time you come back to the glass. It's full-bodied, concentrated, and has the vintage’s purity and precision, with ripe, ultra-fine tannins and incredible length on the finish. My raw note has more than a few expletives, and this is one of those wines that needs to be tasted to be believed. It might be one of the finest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons I've ever tasted. While it's an incredible tasting experience today, this needs a decade of bottle age and should evolve for 2-3 decades if well stored. Hats off to the sheer genius of winemaker Thomas Brown. (Drink between 2031-2056)" Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2023
JD99 "This creamy and opulent Colesworthy is made from a selection of the best barrels from St. Helena’s Las Piedras Vineyard, and this 2021 may be the last such bottling due to an ownership change. The wine is impressive and intense in its generous red and black fruit, feeling relaxed and almost gentle in soft tannins that seem sweet but supportive, layering between the flowers, red cherries, blueberries and savory nuances. Tasted from a double magnum, it’s full-bodied and mouth-coating. Best after 2030." James Suckling, May 2025
DR98 "Schrader Cellars' Colesworthy is a selection of their best Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from Las Piedras, and only about 120 cases were made in 2021. I absolutely love the quality of these wines, and the elements of the best blocks shine through here in their opulence. The aromas tease out black and red currant fruit layers, topped with tobacco leaf notes. The palate has a plush, deeply layered black-toned fruit quality, with nuances of earth and brown spices, matched by graphite and tempting sagebrush and sandalwood notes, through a pleasure-packed finish and tasted from magnum. (Drink between 2024-2040)" Jonathan Cristaldi for Decanter, March 2024
