JD100 The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith Holy Quest is pure gold, and Napa Valley doesn't get any better. Classic Woodbridge opulence, richness, and depth all emerge from this full-bodied effort, which has incredible overall balance and purity. Cassis, darker berries, graphite, chocolate, and smoky, tobacco notes are some of its nuances, and this beauty has perfectly integrated oak, a deep, layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and one hell of a great finish. As with the other 2021s from Woodbridge, it already offers incredible pleasure, yet it has the density, depth, and balance to age for 30 years if well stored.
LP100 This 2021 Wraith Holy Quest is the first vintage for this label. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is packed with powerful black fruit notes: blackcurrants, black cherries, and blackberries. Much swirling and coaxing releases nuances of crushed rocks, Chinese five spice, mint tea, and mossy tree bark. The full-bodied palate is a nuclear reactor of concentrated, highly charged black fruits and savory sparks, supported by a thick wall of wonderfully velvety tannins and incredible TENSION, finishing with long lingering mineral and exotic spice notes. Atomic.
