Plenty of kirsch and ripe currant and blackberry fruits as well as textbook Oakville iron, black olive, and tobacco emerge on the nose, and it has a seamless mouthfeel, plenty of building tannins, and a heavenly finish. The unique aromas include floral hints and whiffs of licorice, plus To Kalon's hallmark black cherries and loam. The vintage treated this block well, yielding a ripe, full-bodied wine that seems bigger, richer, longer and more concentrated than some of Carter's other 2019 bottlings."
