Product Description

JD97 "The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is irresistible with its expressive perfume of wildflowers, cinnamon, grenadine, and incense. This medium-bodied Barolo offers ultra-fine tannins that coax through the palate, with an even arch of vibrant fruit, crushed stones, and spice. This beautifully seductive wine harkens to the graceful nature of villages such as Chambolle in Burgundy with its incredible finesse, yet it is not lacking in structure." AF for JD May 2023

RP96+ "Within the context of this set of new releases from Comm. G.B. Burlotto, this wine stands far apart. The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is linear and light, but it also shows good fruit weight. This is exactly the classic duality of Monvigliero (a village that traditionally incorporates whole clusters in fermentation). Spice, cola, licorice, grilled herb and dried cherry appear to lift over a fine and delicately tapered mouthfeel." ML for TWA Jun 2022

AG96 "I was surprised to see how much Burlotto’s 2018 Barolo Monvigliero has shut down. That won’t be an issue in time, when the 2018 is actually ready to drink, if anything the wine’s reticence suggests it is going to have a very bright future. It is impressive, but not as inviting as I had hoped." AG for VM Dec 2022

LP96 "This 2018 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero has deep, heady aromas of crushed roses and spice. Sweet strawberry coulis, exotic spices, cinnamon and cedar come and go, punctuating the rose-covered red fruit. There are persistent, yet ever-changing aromas such as orange peel. There's a little more substance in the middle with crushed green notes sprinkled amid the red fruits with orange pith notes giving a note of light bitterness. It is enticingly seamless with a flowing texture and a weightless quality. A wine of great finesse with a lovely integration of tannins. Just beautiful - a wine of ease and calm. Wait one or two years before approaching, but it will drink up to 20 at least." SH for TWI Jul 2022

Audrey Frick for JebDunnuck.com writes, "Based in Verduno, Fabio Burlotto leads the estate named after his great-great-grandfather. The holdings currently consist of 17 hectares in total, predominantly in Verduno, and a small portion outside of the commune with parcels in Cannubi (Valletta) in Barolo and most recently in Castelletto in Monforte d’Alba."
