Product Description
DR96 "The Leflaive's 0.73ha of vines in Combettes were planted in 1960 and 1972, and consistently produce very small, intensely flavoured berries. And this is intense stuff, with beeswax, fresh pastry and citrus peel notes, stylish 20% new wood and remarkable palate length. (Drink between 2021-2032)" TA for DR Oct 2018
VM95 "The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is a little too reduced for my liking, although it seems to recover with aeration and there is plenty of fruit concentration. The palate is slightly tropical on the entry, but very pure, with a fine bead of acidity. Fresh and quite saline, it needs two or three years to assimilate the oak, though it should be worth the wait because there is a lot of extract and intensity. Pushing Grand Cru in quality. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Drink between 2024-2048)" NM for VM Aug 2021
