Product Description

LP98 "Lail’s 2007 J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet in color. It opens with profound scents of crème de cassis, blueberry pie, and boysenberry preserves, plus suggestions of licorice, black truffles, iron ore, tapenade, and unsmoked cigars. The big, concentrated, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with youthful black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, framed by beautifully ripe, velvety, yet firm tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long, long, long." LPB for TWI Mar 2023

RP97 "Deep garnet colored with a lingering touch of purple, the 2007 J Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautifully expressive nose of warm cassis, blackberry compote and blueberry pie with touches of baking spices, vanilla pod, mocha, forest floor and black olives plus a waft of violets. Big, super rich and full-bodied, it delivers powerful, mouth-filling black fruit layers with a plush frame and invigorating freshness, finishing with incredible length and perfume." LPB for TWA Aug 2018

Robert Parker writes, "Robin Lail, one of the top women of the Napa wine scene, is also the daughter of the legendary John Daniel, who did so much to raise the image of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Lail and her winemaker, Philippe Melka, were among the first to recognize the potential of a Bordeaux-styled, barrel-fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc. Aged 18 months in French wood, this Sauvignon is totally different from the overtly fruity styles so prevalent elsewhere. Lail’s Sauvignon is a serious effort with the texture of a white Burgundy and the aromas of a white Bordeaux. In both 2006 and 2007, the flagship wine, the J. Daniel Cuvee, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, from the estate’s own vineyard on Howell Mountain as well as purchased fruit, usually from the Vine Hill Vineyard in Yountville. Production in both vintages is just under 1,000 cases." Published: Dec 21, 2008
