Product Description
DR94 "This is the first wine of this vertical tasting in which the barrel aging is aromatically apparent, but that is not to its disadvantage. Nose of mocha, cocoa beans, and smoky elements with graphite and a perfume of blackcurrant bud emerging after aeration. The palate reveals a peppery note and a mouthfeel that is dense and structured with fine tannins, yet it seems more elegant than the nose, especially on the fine-boned, close-knit finish. A rather singular expression of Pichon Baron." YC for DR Dec 2021
Jane Anson for Inside Bordeaux writes, "Smoky edged from the first nose (a true signature of the vintage) with gunsmoke and campfire notes. The fresh acidities of a cooler summer are clear through the mid palate, softened by blackberry, caramel and white pepper spice. Soft tannins, finessed, a little soft on the finish, no need to wait to drink this, but you'll find plenty to enjoy. No more Cabernet Franc from this point in the blend. 80% new oak.
