Product Description

JS98 "This is a powerful and structured Redigaffi with aromas of black plums, grilled herbs, thyme, leather and black pepper. Salty black-olive and iodine undertones, too. There’s so much going on, with a wealth of black fruit wrapped in firm, muscular tannins. Keeps going. 100% merlot." JS Jul 2022

DR97 "In 1997 there was a spring frost which made a 'natural selection' in the vineyard, reducing yields. '1997 was probably one of the best vintages in the last half a century,' says Stefano Frascolla. The 1997 Redigaffi showed some distinct bottle variation - the second bottle was much better, with a brighter tone to the colour, a more open, youthful nose with some spice, tar, violet and dried fruit notes. On the palate it is medium-bodied with a nice weight and refined tannins. This is a beautifully balanced wine, very refined with a lovely freshness on the finish. It's fully mature and showing beautifully now." SH for DR Jul 2022

James Suckling writes, "This is rich and dense with beautiful dark fruits, black olives and hints of chocolate. The once almost coconut and vanilla character from new barrels has finally dissolved into the wine. It full and round textured with soft tannins. Everything is wonderfully integrated now. Impressive and youthful still. So much more to give. But so delicious and sexy now." 100 Points Published: Jun 12, 2016
