Jean-Marc Millot
Domaine Jean-Marc Millot Wines
Jean-Marc Millot is one of Burgundy's most exciting wine producers, holding 8 hectares of land in some of the region's top vineyards like Vosnee-Romanée and Echezeaux. With 97% of the vines planted to pinot noir, Millot wine is quickly rising in the ranks of Burgundy, becoming a top producer in the region thanks to the young, star winemaker, Alix Millot.
The History Behind Domaine Jean-Marc Millot
Domaine Jean-Marc Millot was established in the early 1980s, though the first estate bottling was not released until 1992. Jean-Marc made his first harvest in 1981 from inherited land, as his grandparents bought vines during World War II, but opted to keep the finished product for family consumption. After acquiring enough land to begin a professional production, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot entered the market with a bang, standing out as one of Burgundy's top Grand Cru wines.
25 years after its beginning, Jean-Marc's daughter, Alix, took over as the head winemaker, bringing a fresh approach to the meticulous family style. Alix has opted to change fermentation processes from vintage to vintage and earned the estate a long-awaited organic certification in 2018.
"While some of my favorite producers left me and other attendees questioning their judgment, less familiar names served as pertinent reminders that you don’t have to pay through the nose to find great Burgundy. Consider the vivacious, persistent Les Suchots from Jean-Marc Millot..." — Neal Martin for Vinous Media
Jean-Marc Millot Burgundy Wine
Since Alix's first solo vintage in 2016, the talented winemaker has masterfully guided Millot to produce fresh, cutting-edge wines amongst Burgundy's traditional scene. The winemaker has stopped the use of pesticides and insecticides at the domaine while focusing on freshness and expression of terroir. With land in coveted Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards such as Vosne-Romanée, Echezeaux, and Clos de Vougeot, Millot's refinement and richness are unmatched and perfectly captured in the final blend.
