2019 DRC Vosne Romanee Cuvee Duvault Blochet - Menton Boston Dinner
“The Vosne-Romanée Cuvée Duvault-Blochet is a wine the domaine has quietly made for some time. In the past, it was mostly allocated to restaurants in France, but that has started to change. The 1er Cru is a blend of mostly young vines from Romanée St. Vivant and La Tâche, picked early and co-fermented.”
- Antonio Galloni
Stumbled across a 2019 Domaine Romanee Conti Vosne Romanee Cuvee Duvault Blochet at a price point too good to pass up at Menton’s, Barbara Lynch’s luxury restaurant in Boston. In some years, the Domaine declassifies young vines of Grand Cru La Tache, Richebourg and Romanee St. Vivant down to the Premiere Cru Duvault Blochet. Beautiful aromas of lavender, red fruit and Asian spice became more open for business as the night progressed. The texture was silky and layered without heaviness, and although young, this 2019 was a joy to drink.
