In 2013, the Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested on September 16, whilst the Cabernet Franc came off October 3; the conclusions they drew were that earlier harvested Cab Sauv provided more polished tannins, and as a real workhorse Rootstock, 3309 was instrumental in ripening the Cab Sauv during this drought-stricken year. In the glass, explosive dark fruit aromas, very perfumed with lifted clove and wood smoke notes along with dried roses and violets. Full-bodied, showcasing the epitome of Cabernet power matched by the integrity of a brooding, contemplative wine.
