Tasted at the Ch?teau Figeac vertical at the property. The 1964 Figeac, here tasted from magnum, is a fabulous Saint Emilion at the peak of its powers. The bouquet is even more extravagant than the 1966 with ebullient red fruit, vanilla, black truffle and peppermint, all with quite astonishing delineation. The palate is fresh and vital, underpinned by captivating tension, hints of blood orange, maraschino cherry and cedar noted on the long and poised, unashamedly sensual finish. There cannot be many more superior Right Bank wines made during this decade than the Figeac 1964. Tasted June 2015.
